With the beginning of the century, Chens, Nernier, Yvoire like many others villages on the Lake, used to have their main activity focused on lake and fishing.

In the 1900's they were 250 on the French side both fishermen and farmers. Today they are only 50 profesionnal fishermen to whom one can buy fresh fish from the lake.

Wide range of fishing licences are available from many shopkeepers: bar with tabaccolicence in Chens sur Leman, Magretti in Sciez, Hairstylist Domino in Douvaine, Desuzinge in Thonon les Bains, Colvert in Thonon les Bains
