Lake Leman and its Surroundings

The fleet of ships belonging to the CGN (General Navigation Company) has played an enormous part in creating this enchanting environment, offering visitors the possibility to peacefully discover this beautiful region by navigating this small "landlocked sea" called Lake Leman.

Fishing villages, scenic countryside and majestic mountains in addition to parks, castles and splendid gardens are all at your fingertips on the shores of Lake Leman.

The region surrounding Lake Leman is privileged in many ways: its
cosmopolitan make-up, the wealth of its history, its important
economic development, its temperate climate, and its geographic
proximity to Italy, Germany and Switzerland are but a few of its
assets...

The beauty and serenity of its countryside has always been a magnate to poets, statesmen and multitudes of visitors from aroud the world.

Geographic Details

Lake Leman is the largest body of fresh water in Western Europe, with a volume of 89 bilion cubic meters of water. Because it is an international body of water, separating France and Switzerland, it cannot be considered the largest lake in France.
Its primary tributary is the Rhone River in Valais (Switzerland), and its outlet is the Rhone River in Geneva.
Theoretically, water entering the lake at Bouveret would take 11 years to reach Geneva!
